Vladzymyrskyy R&D Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Donetsk State Medical University, Informatics and Telemedicine DepartmentIn 1 January 2000 in Donetsk R&D Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics working group “Telemedicine” was founded. On the 25th of January, 2000 we carried out our first teleconsultation: professor M. Nerlich from Regensburg (Germany) consulted the patient with serious pelvis trauma from Donetsk (Ukraine). In 1 January 2001 first in Ukraine Informatics and Telemedicine Department was founded. In 2000-2003 we carried out 114 teleconsultations. In 51 cases we were the inquiring party, in 88 – the consulting one, and as a mediator we worked in 5 cases. Average consultation usually takes 12-24 hours. Teleconsultations were carried out for 92 men and 52 women. The age differentiation – from 3 months to 80 years. Our telemedical workstations consist of PCs (joined as a local network), digital cameras, printers, web-cameras, as well as leased Internet line (128K). We mainly use asynchronic telemedical technologies (mailing lists, Internet forums, personal request via e-mail, “second opinion” service by our web-site http://www.telemed.org.ua; also special telemedical soft on the Internet base), also we use synchronic telemedical technologies (ICQ, e-mail, chat). |
